How you can contribute your stories

We need your help!

We want to share with the rest of Edinburgh all the great things that go on on these routes. Maybe you'd like to write a story, share a video or some cool photos. Maybe there's an event you'd like us to publicise; maybe there's some rubbish, vandalism or fly-tipping you want us to try to sort out.

Whatever it is, positive or negative, let us know.

There are lots of ways for you to contribute your stories, photos, videos and audio.

First of all you can add your story straight onto our interactive map. Simply clip on the nearest stop, and then click on the grey “Post” button in the sidebar – and fill out the form. You can attached photos to your post, or embed audio or video from sites like You-tube, Vimeo, Sound Cloud and AudioBoo.

Here's a short video explaining how it works.

If have an idea for a more complicated story, or want one of our ambassadors to cover it, you can email us your ideas, stories and content to innertubemap@gmail.com.

You can also contribute to the navigation page for every stop – with photos of entrances and exits, points of interest, and links to local amenities, attractions and community facilities. Just post your material to the stop as if it were a story, but make the title "Navigation." Or, email it to us.

If you've geo-tagged your pictures, you can email them to innertubemap@posterous.com and they'll automatically be added to the nearest stops on the Innertube Map – great if you aren't quite sure where to put them!

You can also suggest ideas to us on twitter – check out @innertubemap or #innertubemap – and on Facebook, and submit photos to our Flickr group.

Becoming an "online ambassador"

If you are a regular contributor to the site, and do great stories, we want to reward you.

You can become an "online ambassador" - called a consul - with your own dedicated page of posts, your own bio page, and a login to allow you to post from your phone. For more information, or to nominate someone to be a consul, email innertubemap@gmail.com

FAQs

Ok, but what kind or stories are you looking for?

We want stories that help bring the routes to life. It might be about an event that happens on one of the routes, a community centre that you can cycle to using your local line, or a campaign to save some green-space or community facility.

It might be about crime, fly-tipping or anti-social behaviour on a route near you. It might be an inspiring local volunteer who used the route, or tidies it up without thanks or recognition.

It might be an insight into the history of these thoroughfares - many of which used to be railway lines. It might be an interview with people who use or live on the routes, pictures of art or wildlife, audio or videos of something unusual, interesting or newsworthy.

Whatever it is, positive or negative, let us know about it.
