We’re just back from a lovely opening celebration at Saughton Play Park, which has been refurbished as part of a £180,000 project, thanks to funding from the City of Edinburgh Council, WREN and Biffaward. This is one of Edinburgh’s biggest play areas, with loads for kids to do, including flying fox, climbing frames, sandworks, swings and plenty of wobbly things to climb on.
The refurbished play park means that Saughton Park really does now have something for everyone, with the now-famous skate park, mini botanics with the winter gardens, formal walled gardens with beautiful herbaceous borders, shrub beds and rose garden, plus sensory gardens and specimen trees – one for the horticultural enthusiasts.
Here are some pics from the event and I’d thoroughly recommend taking a detour off the Innertube this weekend to have a spring picnic in Saughton Park.
